CALENDAR

Monday, May 31 - NO SCHOOL, Memorial Day.

Wednesday, June 2 - Class play, 1:30 pm

Friday, June 4 - Donuts for Dad, 8:15-8:45 am.

Friday, June 4 - "Jungle John" reptile assembly (PBS reward for 30 Cool Cat tickets).

Monday, June 7 - Kindergarten Graduation (1:30)

June 8, 9, and 10 - 1/2 day, 12:30 dismissal.

Tuesday, June 8 - Class picnic.  Bring a bag lunch and enjoy eating outside with our class.  Parents are welcome to contact me if you'd like to provide a special treat for our students to enjoy at the picnic.

Wednesday, June 9 - Ice Cream party to celebrate students with summer birthdays.

Friday, June 11 - Last Day, 10:30 am dismissal.

 

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

Please be sure all library books are returned to the library by May 28.  Report cards will not be issued to students with outstanding library obligations!

THIS WEEK'S LESSONS

 

Here's what we'll be learning about this week, June 1-4:abc

READING - We will also continue our review of the sight words and reading skills we have worked on all year.  We will focus on stories about the ocean, and will read words in the -ut, -ug, and -un word families.  We will continue reviewing rhyme, letter sounds, main idea, cause and effect, and decoding skills.

HANDWRITING - We will practice printing words, numbers, and sentences, using all the handwriting skills we have learned this year. 

MATH - This week we will review simple addition.

HIGH FREQUENCY WORDS

KINDERGARTEN HIGH-FREQUENCY WORDS

Below are the words that all Kindergarten students should be able to read by May.  These words will be introduced gradually throughout the school year.  All words have now been introduced.  Please review them with your child regularly.  Recognition of these words is a requirement for Kindergarten promotion!

class rules

1.  Raise your hand.

2.  Share.

3.  Take Turns.

4.  Listen and work quietly.

5.  Be respectful to others.

6.  Keep your classroom and desk neat.

7.  Do your best work.

8.  Keep your hands and feet to yourself.

9.  Be a kind friend.

10. Be responsible (folder, homework, books, etc.)


Consequences:

1st Warning: 10 min. off recess, flip card to yellow;

2nd warning: 20 min. off recess, flip card to blue;

3rd warning: miss entire recess, flip card to red.

Students who stay on green for the entire day earn a Cool Cat Ticket! 

(Cool Cat Tickets can be redeemed for special events and prizes!)


Parents are notified daily of student behavior by the monthly behavior calendar. 

If unacceptable behavior persists, personal contacts will be made with parent and principal.
