Welcome to Park's ELL Program

The Park ELL Program is here to assist students whose primary home language is not English.  Students receive help in developing language in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.

For more information see: http://www.cde.state.co.us/cde_english/download/ELDStandardsApril2005.pdf

Park Elementary has a full time ELL Teacher who services students in grades Kindergarten to 5th Grade.  Dr. Hedges is a fluent Spanish speaker and works with all ELL families to promote communication between the home and school.  Dr. Hedges also works in collaboration with classroom teachers to insure students are learning the vocabulary, concepts, and language structures necessary to be successful in the classroom environment.

Schedule

When students come to ELL they get to work in a small group, pairs, and/or individually with other language learners who have similiar needs.  Instruction within ELL takes more of a hands-on approach when ever possible.  All instruction is done in English using Scaffolding and Sheltered English. (Except in some special cases where a Bilingual approach is more appropriate.)  I strive in making our classroom respectful of cultures and languages by making our environment welcoming and using multicultural stories to help students draw upon their personal experiences.  My classroom is always open to parents or family members. (Please make sure to check in at the office first.)
